Tulare County Association of Governments (TCAG) hosted a car seat safety event on Friday and Saturday, August 27 and 28. Over the course of only six hours in the span of two days, over twenty car seats were inspected, installed, and distributed to caregivers from all over Tulare County, from Dinuba to Pixley and Ducor to Goshen. TCAG’s community partners, including California Highway Patrol car seat technicians, Officers Beal, Liles, Grove, and Mellow, were instrumental to making the event a success.
Registrations for the car seat check-up and distribution ramped up in the hours prior to the event, to the point that many people had to be put on a wait list. Fortunately, those who were unable to attend the event this weekend will have plenty of chances to attend future car seat distributions.
TCAG was recently awarded a grant from the California Department of Public Health that is programmed for unintentional childhood injury prevention interventions. TCAG intends to use the grant to fund additional car seat distribution and installation events as well as other childhood safety outreach projects, like bike rodeos.
